Fanduel Cash Game Thoughts Week 5

Jon Kelly

After a rough week 1 to start the season, it seems like things are really clicking now in terms of roster construction for cash games. This is a slate that I love because there is going to be much less overlap between lineups than the last two weeks which gives us a significant edge if we can identify the optimal plays.

QB:

$7.4K Kyler Murray @ Cincinnati Bengals – Primary Target

This is a price play and it should be an obvious one. Draftkings has Murray priced as the fourth highest this week and Fanduel has him all the way down at number 12 in price behind an injured Cam Newton. Murray hasn’t had a great season so far but that hasn’t stopped him from putting up fantasy points. With only four passing touchdowns through the first four games, he is likely to see some positive touchdown regression against a Bengals defense that is bottom 12 in fantasy points allowed to QBs.

$6.6K Joe Flacco @ Los Angeles Chargers – Secondary Target

Originally, I thought this play was too points-chasey for me but the more I dug into it, the more it’s growing on me. Not only did Joe Flacco light up the Jacksonville defense last week as he eclipsed 300 yards passing and three touchdowns, but he has exceeded salary based expectations three out of four weeks this season. The matchup against the Chargers isn’t ideal by any means but the price is so incredibly cheap that you are happy with 15 points and it allows you to jam in the stud plays at the premium positions on a week with little value elsewhere. I still prefer Ryan if you can find a way to get up to him but Flacco provides some nice salary relief at the position.

RB:

$8.2K Dalvin Cook @ New York Giants – Primary Target

Dalvin Cook is one of the top projected running backs on the slate. It is tougher to get him in over on DK with the pricing but Fanduel makes it easy by making him nearly 1K less than CMC and $600 less than Zeke. Cook has gone over 100 yards rushing in three games already this season and is averaging 4.5 targets as well. As long as teammates, Adam Thielen and Steffon Diggs, don’t try to steal the shine from him this week then Cook is setup to smash.

$8.8K Ezekiel Elliott vs Green Bay Packers – Secondary Target

The only thing that makes Zeke a secondary target is the price. That being said, everything else sets up great for a smash Zeke game this week as a home favorite. Additionally, he did seven targets last week so it’s not like he isn’t going to catch some passes as well. Green Bay has been one of the toughest teams against the pass this season and has allowed the third most fantasy points to opposing RBs so far. All signs point to a monster Zeke game and with little value at RB, it is tough not to try to pay up for both Zeke and Cook on Fanduel this week.

WR:

$5.3K Auden Tate vs Arizona Cardinals – Primary Target

This one should be a no-brainer for anyone that is paying attention. Tate has been seeing an increased target share over the last two games with 16 targets in that span. Now we have news that John Ross is going to be sidelined with a shoulder injury for at least a few weeks. Lastly, Tate gets the up-tempo strong matchup against Arizona and failed to see a price jump because of the Monday night game. He is the best point per dollar play in all formats this week.

$5.7K Will Fuller vs Atlanta Falcons – Secondary Target

Another possible salary saver that I like this week is Will Fuller. It is nearly impossible for someone to be as unlucky as Fuller has been so far this season. He had yet another “would-be” long touchdown where he was wide open deep and Watson missed him. That has been the story of this season so far for Fuller but it is only a matter of time until variance flips and that changes. He is still 12th this season in total air yards and I love the price this week in the highest over/under on the slate. I feel comfortable with Fuller in cash for the savings and because he has the type of upside that can help you sweep cash games.

TE:

$4.6K Tyler Eifert vs Arizona Cardinals – Only Target

With the position being so ugly this week, I am actually okay with it in cash games if you need the savings. He is laughably priced on Fanduel this week and because Hooper is so priced up, Eifert is the only feasible option this week. Eifert isn’t going to be on the field as much as other TEs but he does have significant TD equity in this offense. He also has the flow chart matchup against the Cards who have given up the most fantasy points to TEs this season by a country mile.

D/ST

$4.8K Tennessee Titans vs Buffalo Bills – Primary Target

This one is pretty straight forward as the Titans are a home favorite that get to face Matt Barkley assuming Josh Allen doesn’t pass concussion protocol. Even if it is Allen, he is prone to turnovers and mistakes and this pass rush by the Titans is averaging over three sacks per game.

$3.4K Pittsburgh Steelers vs Baltimore Ravens – Secondary Target

Some people are afraid to punt the D/ST position but I’m not one of those people. I don’t try to force it but when you have reasonable matchups at a cheap price tag then it does make sense to save salary at a position that is super high variance and wildly unpredictable. The Steelers are at home and 14 sacks through the first four games and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them give a mobile QB like Jackson fits at times. It’s a price play for me and it’s not a bad one at all.
